The organisers of First Night Auckland 2000 at the Edge are inviting Aucklanders to write their wishes on the back of a postcard so they can be displayed as part of the millennium celebration in the Aotea Centre and Aotea Square.
"First Night Auckland 2000 is a participatory celebration and we want a big attendance on New Year's Eve," says event coordinator Angela Gourdie. "But even if you can't make it, send us your wishes and you will be there in spirit!"
Organisers are hoping for 5000 wishes to reach them by New Year's Eve and say the collection will be a unique snapshot of Kiwi hopes and aspirations.
Targeted mainly at young people, First Night Auckland 2000 will be a drug-free and alcohol-free 12-hour carnival style event and is one of Auckland City's four free public events for the millennium.
Postcards, letters and artworks for First Night Auckland 2000 should be posted to :-
