Americas Cup Challenger Races Postponed Until Weds

Published: Mon 25 Oct 1999 11:00 AM
The races scheduled for Sunday and Monday, October 24 and 25, have been postponed to Wednesday 27 October.
The decision follows the successful requests by AmericaOne and FAST2000 for time to repair their boats that were damaged in the racing yesterday.
The Swiss boat suffered structural failure in the bulkhead supporting the backstay chainplates.
AmericaOne was smashed in the stern by Dennis Conner's Stars & Stripes during the start of the race.
After a formal hearing the International Jury penalised Nippon Challenge half a point from its Round Robin 1 points tally. The Japanese collided with Bravo Espana during the pre-start; Nippon took a penalty but the Spanish filed a red flag protest.
