NATIONAL UPBEAT IN AUCKLAND
Television One is reporting that the National party has almost closed the gap on Labour in Auckland.
The news stems from National's belief it is now on track to win the election. And the party is scheduled to launch its full election campaign at Auckland's Eden Park on Sunday week.
TV One reports that National's northern division chairman Richard Yeats revealed the party's own polling puts it within two percentage points of Labour. Yeats says the gap is continuing to narrow.
With a third of all electorates in the party's northern division, Auckland is the key to deciding which party will lead the next government.
