A trip to APEC has turned into a real winner for Napier Constable Dominie Mason.
Constable Mason in Auckland for Operation APEC 99 is a member of the Philippine Delegation Security Team is the lucky winner of $10,000 after a $1 scratch and win ticket won her the big price
The Hawkes Bay police officer could not believe her luck yesterday. She went out to purchase lotto tickets for the Delegation Security Commander who is also her District Manager, Superintendent Pat Moore, and at the same time decided to purchase a $1 scratchie.
"To my absolute amazement I won $10,000. I am thrilled about my win and am looking forward to wiping my visa bill and I will probably buy a set of new golf clubs. I have been buying lotto tickets for about five years now and this is the first win"
On hearing of Constable Mason's good news, Superintendent Moore checked that the lucky $1 was not part of his change. He added that the pair had made an agreement that Constable Mason would give him ten percent of any winnings.
"She doesn't seem so keen to honour our contract," Superintendent Moore said
She is leaving any major celebration until after APEC and promises to shout some of her colleagues a well-earned drink.
