Leader's Summit on Monday 13 September, Police from APEC will be offering assistance to transient people who use the
domain, to locate elsewhere.
Police have had liaison with other social agencies and will offer transport to various shelters and missions in
Auckland. This will occur from 6pm on Saturday 11 September as the Domain is secured.
Other than the need to secure the domain the Police from APEC will have no planned involvement with transient persons
around the city.
Downtown police have responded to a number of complaints from local businesses and residents about street crime and
disorder. Their responses have netted a number of people who are transients.
These people have been dealt with in the normal manner depending on the circumstances of their arrest and situation.
[Where arrest warrants are outstanding these people have been held in custody until the next court date.]
It is not uncommon as the weather becomes warmer that there are more transients in the city. Some of these people may
get involved in everyday street offences and local police remain vigilant.
An example is the recovery on Friday of $5000 worth of property belonging to the America's Cup syndicate "Young
America". This was stolen on Wednesday when their van was broken into.
A routine stop of a teenager in the downtown area on Friday led to the recovery and the arrest of two suspects.
