Auckland City Council
Mayor of Auckland City, Chris Fletcher today announced the initial trustees for a Mayoral Foundation established to
contribute to making the city safer and improving the quality of life for Aucklanders.
The Trustees will bring different perspectives and new initiatives to the Foundation to promote a safer and more
harmonious Auckland community. It is intended that the
Foundation will have a strong emphasis on youth initiatives and finding ways to encourage, develop and energise young
people within Auckland City.
The seven initial Trustees to the Mayoral Foundation are prominent Auckland citizens from a diverse range of
professions. They are:
* Tony Bouchier
* Vivien Sutherland Bridgwater
* Howard Broad
* Mike Chunn
* Angus Fletcher (Chairman)
* John Sax
* Pauline Winter
Mrs Fletcher will act as Advisory Trustee to the Foundation.
The Foundation will seek to identify and support breakthrough solutions that have a lasting impact for Auckland citizens
and visitors safety and enjoyment of the city.
Establishment of the Foundation is intended to compliment and not to interfere with any existing local or central
government programmes. The purpose is to seek and support new ideas and initiatives that can bring a positive
contribution to living in Auckland City.
The Foundation is being established through an initial grant from the Mayor. Inland Revenue has advised that the
Foundation has received charitable status.
