A knife wielding man shot by Police in Greenhithe near Auckland is in a serious condition at North Shore Hospital.
Police were called to a residential address after receiving a complaint that a man was threatening another with a knife.
On arrival police say they found a woman in the front of a property bleeding from facial wounds. A man was also found holding a baby with one hand and a knife in the other.
Police say they negotiated with the man. He put the baby down but then approached police with the weapon. He failed to heed police requests for him to put the weapon down. Police then shot him.
