One Tree Hill Landscape Development Plan

Proposals to upgrade access and facilities in the lower section of One Tree Hill Domain - in the area of the observatory
- are outlined in a new landscape development plan presented to Auckland City’s Parks and Recreation Committee.
Among the proposals are a "village green" concept for the area in front of the observatory, where art displays, picnics
and fetes could be held.
A key feature would be the Devinci Louch Walk, a walkway based on the oak tree avenue plantings and including a plan and
information about the Devinci Louch design would extend through to Cornwall Park.
The area's history and information about plant and bird life would be detailed in strategically placed signs and boards.
Parking and roads would be realigned to improve safety and access.
Committee chairperson Cr Phil Raffills welcomes the landscape design proposals. "This is a valuable open space and a
focal point for the city. These innovative proposals can only enhance its appeal, making it safer and even more
enjoyable for the public, both local people and visitors to Auckland."
