Britomart Developers Threaten Legal Action - The developers of Auckland’s controversial Britomart project are threatening to sue the Auckland City Council, following its refusal to pay $15million in costs over delays. At the closed door meeting last night Council decided to reject the ultimatum by developers. Council has now been asked to pay out three times.
Prison Manager Criticises Child Commissioner - The general manager of public prisons is accusing the Commissioner for Children of trying to apportion blame over the death of a teenage prison inmate. Commissioner Roger McLay released a report into a 17 year old who was found hanging in his Manuwatu Prison cell last August. But the public prisons general manager says that death has already been the subject of reports by the Ombudsman and the Prison Inspectorate. He says the commissioner’s reports adds nothing to the case.
