Auckland City Council - press release
Auckland City’s Parnell Festival of Roses - Parnell Rose Gardens
Free Entertainment Sat. Nov. 13 & Sun. Nov. 14 11am - 4pm
The Parnell Festival of Roses will be a celebration of the Rose in all its forms.
From dance to poetry, art to music and singing, the theme of the rose will be celebrated throughout the weekend.
Last year’s festival proved so popular, attendances tripled from the previous one day "Rose Day".
"Taking time to smell the roses" is the focus over these two days and the free entertainment is designed to complement the beautiful roses and the park surroundings.
There will be jazz bands, strolling musicians, Auckland City Brass, Barbershop quartets and choirs, horse and buggy rides and dancing displays from amateur and professional dance groups including Mary Jane O’Reilly’s Auckland Dance Company.
This is a perfect weekend to celebrate the approach of Summer and enjoy a gentle day outdoors. Refreshments will be available or you can bring a picnic to enjoy in the gardens.
For further information contact Auckland City on 09-379 2020
Closer to festival time the weekend’s programme details will be available on http://www.akcity.govt.nz and http://www.outandabout.co.nz
