Further Progress On Auckland City Downtown Accord
12th July 1999
The Steering Committee of the Auckland City Downtown Accord is holding a workshop at the Loaded Hog this Wednesday July 14th at 9 a.m.
Accord Facilitator Barry Kaye will outline the concept, and speakers from Police, the Hospitality Industry and the Council will discuss their respective roles in the Accord.
Invitations to attend the meeting have been widely distributed to the many stakeholders and interest groups operating in the Viaduct Harbour and Downtown.
The workshop will provide feedback on the draft Accord, and discuss ways and means of achieving a vibrant and safe downtown in the future. When agreement has been reached on the Accord, it will be formally launched at a later date.
Councillor Richard Northey, who chairs Auckland City Council’s Advocacy Committee said "I am excited and encouraged by the interest in this issue among groups with very diverse interests who have a commitment to work together to make our downtown district a place all Aucklanders can be proud of during the America’s Cup, Millennium celebrations and beyond".
