Constable Kim Hendrie, Christchurch Central Police:
Christchurch Police are appealing for information from the public following an aggravated robbery in Burwood yesterday evening.
Around 8:35pm on Tuesday 7 May two men entered a liquor store on Parnwell Street, grabbing the store owner and threatening him with an aluminium bat.
The two men took cash and cigarettes before fleeing in a silver Subaru legacy.
While the victim was not injured in the incident, he is understandably very shaken.
Police and Victim Support are providing him with support.
“We want to reassure the community that we take these incidents extremely seriously," says Constable Hendrie.
“We know the community will agree with us that this sort of behaviour is absolutely unacceptable.
We urge anyone with information to get in contact with us.
“We want to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed anything.
We also want to hear from anyone who recognises the men in the CCTV footage which is currently on Canterbury Police Facebook page.
Anyone with information can call Constable Kim Hendrie at Christchurch Central Police Station on 03 363 7400.
Information can also be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
