Part of State Highway 1 in Kaiwaka will be down to one lane for several hours following a fatal crash this morning.
A man died following the crash near the intersection of the highway and Settlement Road in Kaiwaka, Kaipara District,
about 6am.
Initial indications show the truck hit another stationary truck on the road before going down a steep bank.
The driver who was the sole occupant of that vehicle sadly died at the scene.
No one else was injured.
Traffic is down to one lane and is expected to stay that way until at least 2pm today, while a crane is brought in to
remove the vehicle.
Some delays are expected and motorists are advised to avoid the area if they can and be patient on the road.
