Man injured after firearms incident in Waiau Pa

Counties Manukau Police are investigating a firearms incident that occurred in Waiau Pa this afternoon.
Police were called to Wrights Road around 2:05pm following a report that a man had received a gunshot wound.
The man was taken to Middlemore Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Police are still working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Detective Inspector Va'aelua says a Police presence remains on Wrights Road, where a scene guard is currently in place at the address.
“We are speaking to a number of people in close proximity to the address where this has occurred.
"While no one has been arrested at this stage, we’d like to reassure the public that we are not looking for anyone else and a number of people are assisting us with our enquiries.”
