Police have arrested a 28-year-old male associate of the Comanchero gang in relation to an aggravated robbery incident last year.
The aggravated robbery, and subsequent alleged assault of a police officer, happened in Mount Maunganui, in the Bay of Plenty, on July 20, 2018.
A 29-year-old male was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with aggravated robbery.
The investigation has remained ongoing regarding other people involved in this incident.
This morning Police carried out a search warrant at an address in central Auckland.
A 28-year-old man was arrested and has been charged with aggravated robbery and assaulting Police, and was due to appear in the Auckland District Court today.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greene says enquiries remain ongoing and Police cannot rule out further charges.
Police also located and arrested a 43-year-old woman at the Auckland address and she is also expected to appear in the Auckland District Court on unrelated drug charges, including a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
“This is yet another example of our commitment to target alleged criminal offending by gang members and organised crime groups.”
As the matter is before the courts, Police cannot comment further.
