Counties Manukau Police investigating the death of Arthur Brown in Mangere have charged man with his murder.
This morning Police executed a number of search warrants in Counties Manukau with the assistance of the Armed Offenders Squad, where the 20-year-old man was arrested.
A number of firearms were also recovered during this morning’s search warrants.
Two other people are currently assisting Police with their enquiries.
A number of dedicated Police staff have worked on the homicide enquiry since Mr Brown was shot on Vine Street on 10 March.
“Today’s arrest is pleasing and a great relief to achieve this result,” says Detective Inspector Tofilau Faa Vaaelua.
“This has come about through some tireless work by the Police team working on the case and assisted by information provided from the public, including anonymous reports via Crimestoppers."
The funeral for Mr Brown, also known as Afa, was held earlier today.
“It is only coincidental that this morning’s arrest was made as Mr Brown’s family prepared to lay him to rest today,” says Detective Inspector Vaaelua.
The 20-year-old charged with murder is due to appear in the Manukau District Court this afternoon.
Now that this matter is before the Court, Police are unable to comment further.
