Police investigate possible shots fired by fleeing driver

Superintendent Lane Todd, Canterbury Metro Commander:
Christchurch Police are making enquiries after an incident in Anzac Drive where it appears shots were fired at a police car overnight.
Just before 1am this morning, officers signalled a car to stop in Wainoni, due to the manner of driving.
The car failed to stop, and officers saw what they believed to be shots fired through a window of the car, towards the police car.
Police immediately abandoned the pursuit.
Fortunately nobody was injured but Police are taking the incident extremely seriously.
Enquiries to locate the offender/s have been ongoing today, and this has included a police presence in Anzac Drive.
