Kaitaia homicide investigation - update

Northland Police is continuing its homicide investigation into the death of a female infant in Kaitaia on Tuesday.
Acting Detective Inspector Lloyd Schmid, Northland CIB, says the Police investigation is still in the early stages.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death.
“Any death, particularly of a young baby, is a tragedy.
I want to assure the Kaitaia community that Northland Police will thoroughly investigate the baby’s death,” says Acting Detective Inspector Lloyd Schmid.
The scene examination at an address in Kaitaia is still ongoing but is due to be completed later today.
