Police are making enquiries after a man received gunshot wounds to the lower back and buttock area on Brigham Creek
Road, Whenuapai, this morning.
It is believed the incident occurred just before 4:30am.
The man was taken to Auckland Hospital with serious injuries.
Police will be conducting a scene examination this morning.
Part of Brigham Creek Road is currently closed between State Highway 16 through to Joseph McDonald Drive and motorists
are advised to avoid the area.
