Police investigate shooting in Whenuapai

Police are making enquiries after a man received gunshot wounds to the lower back and buttock area on Brigham Creek Road, Whenuapai, this morning.
It is believed the incident occurred just before 4:30am.
The man was taken to Auckland Hospital with serious injuries.
Police will be conducting a scene examination this morning.
Part of Brigham Creek Road is currently closed between State Highway 16 through to Joseph McDonald Drive and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Police ask anyone with information relating the incident to please call Waitemata Police on 09-839 0600 or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
