Attribute to Senior Sergeant Dave Readings, Counties Manukau Police:
Police remain at the scene of a serious crash in Pukekohe, which occurred around 11.30am.
Two vans have collided at the intersection of Gun Club Road and Schlaepfer Road.
Police can now confirm eight people have been injured.
Four of those injured are children, aged between 6 and 13.
One of the children is in a critical condition, while another is in a serious condition.
Two other children are in a moderate condition.
Four adults are also being treated for moderate injuries.
Senior Sergeant Dave Readings says the Serious Crash Unit is examining the scene and the road remains closed with cordons in place.
“Initial enquiries indicate that some of the occupants from one of the vans were not restrained.
“This is a crucial reminder to all motorists to always wear your seatbelt when driving and ensure all passengers are also restrained before starting your journey,” says Senior Sergeant Readings.
