A 50-year-old man has been arrested in relation to a robbery in Hastings last weekend.
Around 4:45pm on Saturday 5 January a man entered the Discount Tobacco store on Charles Street and approached the store owner.
The storeowner was attacked by the man but resisted, which alerted people passing by.
The man then fled empty-handed.
The storeowner received extensive bruising and other moderate injuries.
Today Police executed a search warrant in Hastings, resulting in the arrest of the 50-year-old man.
He has been charged with assault with intent to rob and injures with intent to cause grevious bodily harm.
He will appear in Hastings District Court tomorrow morning, 10 January.
