Police searching for the missing Khandallah woman have recently recovered a body at a beach in the Wairarapa.
While formal identification is yet to take place, the body is believed to be that of Sonam Shelar, who was reported missing on Saturday.
Police have notified Sonam's next of kin and the matter has been referred to the Coroner.
The investigation is still ongoing and Police are working closely with the family of the deceased to ascertain further facts.
Police are committed to supporting the family of the deceased and providing answers for them.
Police want to hear from any persons who may have seen Sonam Shelar on Friday 16 November or Saturday 17 November 2018.
Sonam was last seen wearing a brown jacket with fur on the hood, as well as white, black and orange trainers.
We would also like to ask residents with CCTV cameras showing the road or street in the areas of Cashmere Avenue, Onslow Road, Box Hill, Burma Road, Agra Crescent to contact Police on 04 381 2000 or via email to opzeplin@police.govt.nz
