"Update: Serious crash - Southland"
Two people have died in a motorcycle crash in Southland this afternoon.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Fairfax Isla Bank Road and Riverton Otautau Road at 12.45pm.
A third person has suffered critical injuries.
Initial reports suggested four people had been involved in the crash, and at least two motorcycles.
We can now confirm three motorcycles were involved, and three riders.
No other vehicles were involved.
The road is expected to be closed around the crash scene for some time.
The Serious Crash Unit will be investigating.
