Inquiries ongoing into shooting incident in Manurewa

Statement attributable to Detective Inspector Tofilau Fa’a Va’aelua
Manurewa Police are continuing to make inquiries after a man was shot overnight.
The incident happened in Gibbs Road and was reported to emergency services at 3.45am.
Police along with ambulance staff attended and the man was transported to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Inquiries into the shooting are ongoing and Police will be canvassing the area today.
While we understand incidents like this can cause concern in the community we can assure you that this matter is being investigated thoroughly.
At this time there is nothing to suggest this shooting is in any way connected to the fatal shooting in Manurewa on 14 November.
Police would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident amd noticed anything suspicious.
