Wellington Police are thanking responsible drivers following a traffic operation yesterday evening, November 6.
Police conducted a check point in Broadway, Miramar, between 9.00pm and 10.15pm.
Out of the 200 drivers checked for alcohol no one was found to be over the drink drive limit.
This is a great outcome.
It's encouraging to see people plan ahead and not drive if they’re going out for a few drinks.
Police is committed to reducing death and injury on our roads but we cannot do it alone, and this result shows that we have the support of the local community.
Our message to all road users is clear; don’t drive distracted, buckle up, watch your speed, and never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
