Final call for local talent

Published: Tue 30 Oct 2018 01:25 PM
Young local performers have until Sunday 4 November to register an act for Horowhenua’s Got Talent, an annual talent quest for young people aged between 12 and 24 years.
Horowhenua District Council Community Development Advisor Sophie Parrant said the competition gives young people a chance to showcase their talents in a fun, supportive way.
“It’s an awesome community event for young local singers, dancers, bands, musicians and other young performers with a talent to share on stage,” she said.
There are two categories, Solo and Group, with prizes for the first, second and third place winners in each category. Prizes include $200 for the best group performance and $150 for the best solo performance.
Ms Parrant said holding an annual talent quest was part of Horowhenua District Council’s commitment to making Horowhenua a place full of vibrant events and activities, which is one of the outcomes identified in the Council’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Plan and its Youth Action Plan.
Horowhenua’s Got Talent will be held at 7pm on Saturday 10 November in Main Space, Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō, and is free to enter and attend.
