Murder charges laid in relation to death of James Butler

Attribute to Detective Senior Sergeant Neil Forlong:
Seven people have been arrested today in relation to the murder of James Butler in Whanganui on 22 April 2018.
Six men have been charged with the murder of Mr Butler.
They are also charged with aggravated robbery as well as assault, which relates to the wounding of another man at the property.
A further man has been charged as an accessory after the fact in relation to Mr Butler’s murder.
All seven people are set to appear in court today.
Police are pleased to be able to bring these people before the courts and we hope this will provide some small comfort to Mr Butler’s family and friends.
As the matter is now before the courts, Police cannot comment further.
