Police in Christchurch have arrested five offenders overnight who were allegedly caught stealing items from the Warehouse at Eastgate Mall.
Police were called at 10:45pm Wednesday evening to The Warehouse and immediately discovered the five suspects were wanted by Police for a number of other matters that had occurred during the last two weeks.
Items of interest were also located in their vehicle in the store car park, and other items discovered later in a room of a nearby motel.
During the arrest, one Constable received moderate leg injuries after one person tried to flee, but fortunately the officer did not require medical treatment.
“This was great work by our night shift staff at the scene.
From a Policing perspective this is an excellent result which will significantly contribute to reducing victims and offending within Canterbury,” says Senior Sergeant Scott Banfield of the Canterbury DCC.
Four females and a male will be referred to youth aid.
