Civil Defence is monitoring forecast rain and strong winds
MetService has issued a severe weather watch for the Coromandel Peninsula for heavy rain and strong winds and Civil
Defence is in monitoring mode to keep an eye on the deepening sub-tropical low that is approaching.
Our Council's Civil Defence Controler, Garry Towler, says the weather system is unusual and its exact course is
unpredictable.
"From late afternoon to the early hours of tomorrow morning there will be at least 100mm of steady rain and wind gusts
from the south-east of at least 110kmh, especially along the eastern seaboard of the Coromandel," says Mr Towler.
The advice from Civil Defence is to secure loose outdoor furniture, tie down trampolines, and check drains and gutters
around your property.
High tides around the Coromandel are at just before 5pm today and at about 5:10am tomorrow.
