"Torrential rain, flooding and slips now in the Bay of Plenty"
There is surface flooding, slips and heavy rain hitting the Bay of Plenty.
Flooding is occuring at Papmoa Beach, Te Puke, Mount Maunganui, Otumoetai and Katikati
Police are not aware of anyone being injured in weather-related events at this stage, but people in cars are being affected.
Police continue to monitor the situation and work with our emergency service partners.
Motorists are being asked to please follow the directions of emergency services and roading contractors as some local roads may be closed.
Non-essential travel should be delayed and drivers are being urged to take extra care in this region.
