Police investigating yesterday’s double fatal crash in Pukenui have today charged a person in relation to the incident.
A 28-year-old male is facing two charges of aggravated careless use causing death and one charge of aggravated careless use causing injury and will be appearing in the Kaitaia District Court.
Police are also now able to confirm the identity of the two people who died as a result of the crash, one of whom passed away in hospital later the same day.
They were 77-year-old Marion Evelyn Andrew and 76-year-old Pauline Mary Ogilvy, both from Houhora.
Police’s sympathies go out to the families of both victims.
