State highway at Tirau reopens to one lane after fatal crash
Attributable to Senior Sergeant Fane Troy, Bay of Plenty Road Policing:
State Highway 5 at Tirau has reopened to one lane with traffic control in place, following a fatal crash around 10:20am this morning.
The single vehicle’s sole occupant, a female, died at the scene.
Police are working on formal identification and advising her next of kin.
The crash happened in an area of roadworks, and while Police do not believe the roadworks contributed to the crash, it is a reminder for motorists to take care in these areas.
The cause of the crash continues to be investigated.
