Northland Police are investigating the aggravated robbery of the ANZ bank in Whangarei yesterday.
Just after 11.30am two heavily disguised men, one carrying a firearm, entered the bank and demanded cash from staff.
Customers were in the bank at the time and thankfully neither staff or customers were injured during the robbery.
The offenders fled the scene by foot. One offender was described as wearing a grey hooded top with dark trousers, and the other was wearing a dark coloured top with a hood and dark trousers
Police are also seeking sightings of a red 2004 SS Commodore that was in the vicinity of the Avenues and the CBD before or around the time of the robbery.
No one has been arrested at this stage and the investigation is ongoing.
A scene examination has been completed and the police investigation continues today which includes area inquiries, speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage.
Police would like to remind anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity not to take the law into their own hands or take unnecessary risks – please call police immediately on 111.
