"Fatal crash at Awanui in the Far North"
A man has died following a two-car crash on State Highway 10 at Awanui in the Far North.
It happened just before 5:45pm east of Godinovich Road.
The man was trapped and was freed with the assistance of Fire and Emergency.
Unfortunately, he died at the scene.
A woman was transported by helicopter to Whangarei Hospital with serious injuries.
Two others involved in the crash suffered less serious injuries.
One lane remains open with traffic control in place.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
