Police advise that an alpine rescue team reached the injured female and her climbing companion at around 12:15am this morning.
They have been assisted to Syme Hut where they stayed overnight.
The Taranaki Rescue Helicopter was able to winch a paramedic to Syme Hut earlier in the evening but due to cloud conditions was unable to reach the pair.
A further plan to extract the injured female will be made in the morning dependant on weather conditions.
