"Search and rescue for injured woman on Mt Taranaki "
A search and rescue operation is underway on Mt Taranaki after a woman was injured in a rockfall this afternoon.
Police were alerted at 2:30pm after a 39-year-old woman received injuries to her arm while descending the mountain.
She was injured near Symes Hut and is waiting to be rescued with her climbing companion.
Alpine Cliff Rescue staff are currently on their way to locate her and extract her from the mountain.
