"Public assist Waikato Police to get drunk-driver off the roads"
Waikato Police would like to acknowledge drivers in Otorohanga who called *555 this morning and reported a dangerous driver and helped us get him off the roads.
Police received calls shortly before 11am of a person driving erratically south through Otorohanga.
The driver was stopped in Pirongia and failed a road-side breath test.
The 39-year-old man has been processed for excess breath alcohol and has been bailed to appear in court next week.
People who chose to ring *555 and report a bad driver are doing their part to keep people safe on our roads and the outcome of this incident proves just that.
“The behaviour of this driver is completely unacceptable.
We are grateful that we were able to get this man off our roads and prevent him from hurting innocent motorists,” says Sergeant Charles Burgess.
