Palmerston North man appears in court in relation to assaults
Attributable to Detective Sergeant Jonny Oram, Manawatu CIB:
A 28-year-old Palmerston North man has appeared in court today [March 8] in relation to a series of assaults at two Palmerston North bars on February 25, 2018.
The man, who is a senior member of the Central chapter of the Hell's Angels Motorcycle Gang, faces seven charges of assault, including two of assault with intent to injure.
He is due to reappear in Palmerston North District Court on March 26, 2018.
Police attended the scene on the night, however, further investigation has led to more information being obtained and the man being arrested.
Detective Sergeant Jonny Oram, of Manawatu CIB, says: “Police work closely with bar owners and staff to help create a safe environment for night-time revellers.
Violence and intimidation of this nature will not be tolerated in our communities, and the public should be aware that the Police will take every opportunity to hold those responsible to account.”
Police still want to speak with people who may have seen what happened that evening.
