From pub to church: new church and community centre opens in Shirley
A new church and community centre will open in Shirley on Saturday March 10th. To celebrate the occasion, a launch event
is being held between 12 and 2pm with a number of expo stalls and performances. A free lunch will be provided along with
entertainment including kids' games, bouncy castle, and a guest performance from the New Brighton Brass Band.
The extensively renovated building at 269 Hills Road (formerly the St Albans Shirley Club) will now be home to Eastside C3 Church and a variety of community groups
including the Shirley St Albans Club, Fevah Modern Jive, Silhouette Studios NZ, Toddlerock Shirley/St Albans, and
Moveable Feasts.
In June 2016, C3 Church Christchurch purchased the 4 acre property and buildings owned by the St Albans Shirley Club to
house their growing church congregation and create a space for a new café and local community programmes. Eastside C3
Church is one of three branches of C3 Church in Christchurch. C3 Church is a lively, contemporary, family-friendly
church.
On Saturday 10 March, the building will be officially opened with a short ceremony at 12:30pm.
