"Serious crash at Whakamarama Bay of Plenty"
Motorists are asked to avoid Whakamarama in the Bay of Plenty after a vehicle collision at the intersection of SH2 and
Omokoroa Road.
The crash happened at 4.50pm and involved two cars.
One car has gone down a bank and an occupant is in a critical condition and trapped.
Two other occupants are in a serious condition.
Emergency services are waiting for helicopters to land in the area to air lift the injured to hospital.
The road will be closed for a couple of hours.
Motorists are asked to avoid travel to this area and Police call for patience from members of the public.
