Central District Police to host public Open Day
Police in Whanganui, Hawera, New Plymouth and Palmerston North are gearing up to host members of the public at Open Days next month.
The Open Days, being held on Sunday, March 11, provide the public with the opportunity to interact with their local Police and other emergency services, while learning about the different aspects of modern-day Policing.
Police Central District Commander, Superintendent Sue Schwalger says while the Open Days will have a recruitment focus, there will be a chance for members of the public to engage with different police teams that work in the District.
“We’re looking forward to showcasing the work we do in our communities at the four events planned across our District.
“It’s about engaging and reaching out to our local communities and help them to understand the diverse roles we have within the Police and of course, to encourage anyone thinking about joining the Police to take the leap and apply.
“There’s plenty planned for the Open Days across the District and I would encourage anyone curious about what Police do to come along and talk to our officers and experience things first hand.
“All the activities are family friendly and our very popular Police dogs may even make an appearance,” says Superintendent Schwalger.
