Police seeking witnesses to Waitara assault
New Plymouth Police have arrested a local Waitara man in relation to a serious assault on Friday 16 February.
A 63-year-old male was assaulted around 2:15pm near the intersection of Queen and McLean Streets in Waitara CBD.
The victim was taken to hospital and later discharged and is now recovering at home.
A 32-year-old male was arrested this morning and will appear in the New Plymouth District Court on Tuesday 20 February.
The assault was witnessed by a number of people in the CBD and Police are seeking further information from anyone who witnessed the assault or has any information.
