Attributable to Sergeant Andy Brooke, Manawatu Search and Rescue, Manawatu Police:
Around 100 people have spent today search for 54-year-old Kevin Hartley, last seen in the Scotts Ferry beach area near Bulls on Friday.
Searchers include NZDF personnel from Ohakea, LandSAR volunteers from the lower North Island, Police search and rescue staff, friends and family, as well as members of the local community.
The search has focused on the area north of the bombing range, the sand dunes, shelter belt and forest area.
The Police National Dive Squad is also in the area and assessing whether they are in a position to deploy.
The search is set to continue for a time this evening, and is expected to resume tomorrow, weather-permitting.
