Update #2 - Ahipara incident
Please attribute to Senior Sergeant Peter Robinson, Kerikeri Police
The police search for a male in Ahipara continues this afternoon following a firearms incident on Takahe Rd.
Ahipara school, as well as an early education centre, are no longer in lockdown and police cordons have been lifted around Takahe Rd.
A significant police presence remains in the area as police follow a number of enquiries as they attempt to locate the male involved.
Police have also recovered a vehicle of interest as part of the investigation.
It’s believed the occupants of the property that was fired at were known to the offender, however we are unable to comment further at this stage.
Police believe there is no immediate threat to general members of the public, however local residents are asked to report to Police anyone acting suspicious around their property.
