"Aggravated robbery, Napier"
Hawke’s Bay Police are investigating the aggravated robbery of a Napier restaurant.
At around 10.00am today (18 February) a man entered Pita Pit on the corner of Kennedy Road and Georges Drive, armed with a knife.
He demanded money from the sole staff member, who placed an amount of cash into his bag.
The man then left the store heading in the direction of Thackery Street.
He was wearing dark coloured clothing, gloves, one black sock and one white sock with no shoes and carrying a black Puma backpack.
Detective Sergeant Craig Vining says it is likely the offender lives close by or was picked up by a car given his lack of footwear.
“There were plenty of people in the area who may now recall seeing him and the fact he has come into money will be sign for his family and associates.”
“The victim did everything right and was not harmed during the robbery.”
Police would like to hear from anyone who recognises this man, or was in the area at the time and has information that might help.
“We are very keen to speak to anyone who may be able to assist the investigation and get this guy off the street.” says Vining.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Napier Central Police Station on (06) 831 0700 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
