Cyanobacteria update: Lake Hayes

Published: Wed 14 Feb 2018 04:46 PM
Further to the media release yesterday on cyanobacteria in Lake Hayes, test results have indicated that the biovolume of cyanobacteria in Lake Hayes is 3.96 mm3/L.
Government water quality guidelines for recreational swimming areas are that those with less than 0.5 mm3/L of cyanobacteria should be safe, whereas water with more than 1.8 mm3/L poses a health risk.
Further sampling for cyanobacteria will be completed on Monday next week, with test results available on Wednesday.
END.
