Police are continuing to investigate two incidents on Tripoli Road, Panmure.
In the early hours of Saturday a car struck a group of people.
Later that day, before midnight, three people were attacked at a house.
We have a team of 17 investigators making enquiries and we are confident we will identify the driver of the vehicle from Saturday morning.
We are also following strong lines of enquiry in relation to those responsible for last night’s attack.
We will continue to have increased patrols in the Glen Innes and Panmure areas.
We don’t want to see anybody else hurt, and we’re asking those involved to leave it up to Police to hold those responsible to account.
We are also asking for the families of those involved to make sure there is no further violence.
In both cases this is serious offending where weapons have been used and the outcome could have been much worse.
If anyone sees anything suspicious or has concerns for their safety, they should not hesitate to call 111.
We’d like to thank all those who have already provided us with valuable assistance in our enquiries.
If you can help but you’ve haven’t yet spoken us, we’d like to hear from you on 09 302 6837.
If you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Status of enquiries
As part of our enquiries into these two incidents, we have discovered that one of the people stabbed last night – the person who sustained the most serious injuries in last night’s incident – was someone who had provided valuable assistance to the person critically injured early on Saturday.
When the car struck people in the early hours of Saturday, this person had made the choice to stay with the injured man until the ambulance arrived, and even assisted in lifting the car off him.
This just goes to show how things can go spectacularly wrong when people attempt to take the law into their own hands to seek retribution in this way.
Two people continue to assist us with our enquiries following last night’s incident.
We are confident that none of the victims that were targeted last night were responsible for driving the vehicle into our victims in the early hours of Saturday.
Injuries sustained
As a result of both incidents, a total of five people were hospitalised.
The three people injured in last night’s attack have all been discharged from hospital.
Two people from the incident involving the car remain in hospital.
