Wanaka Beerfest is Bringing the Brewers and Bigger than Before.
The annual Wanaka Beerfest opens it’s gates to the discerning punter for the second time.
The second annual Wanaka Beerfest will bring joy to the masses between 12noon and 6.30pm on the 9th of December at the Wanaka A Showgrounds, just next to the rugby field, with access from McDougall St..
Organisers have more than doubled ticket availability due to the roaring success of last years sold out event and early bird tickets have nearly sold out already for this year.
Eight breweries will be in attendance with six locals and two from further afield this year. With B.Effect, Beerworks, Jabberwocky, Maverick, Ground Up, Rhyme and Reason, New New New and Altitude all displaying a multitude of tantalising tipples, we can be assured of a great day in the park.
Food will be provided by TiriTiri Kitchen, Francesca’s Pizza, Terrylicious Pretzels and Frankie the Nomad. Tunes for the background will be coming from returning Beerfest stars Tai and Martine with the delectable DJ’s at Wanaka Beats taking us into the early evening and Deputy Mayor Calum MacLeod acting as Master of Ceremonies.
Event organiser James Hay said: “Wanaka has a thriving craft beer scene, and with the festival in such a great place this year, it's really exciting to see the event growing. We're just looking forward to a great day in the Sun with great music in the background and great beer on the taps!”
Organisers have arranged the event at the new location with the intention of maintaining the same exuberantly joyful atmosphere as last year. They also repeat the festival’s founding principle: We are drinking for the sake of sampling a singular selection of styles, not drinking with the priority of producing piss.
Otago Regional Councillor Dr. Ella Lawton and beer aficionada said: “I am overjoyed to see our local artisan breweries being celebrated in such style. Bringing in extra breweries this year just shows the benefits to the regional economy and culture.”
And owner/operator of Pembroke Wines John Hallum said: “I think if you can pull something like this off then bloody good on ye!”
Tickets are available at just $25 early bird from Bottle-O, Rhyme and Reason Brewery, Cork Bar, Post Office Lane and online at eventbrite.co.nz.
