Greytown Tops List for Weekend Markets
Greytown, New Zealand - 2 November, 2017: Mark your calendar for the next Greytown Country Market on Sunday 19th November from 9am to 1pm at Stella Bull Park on
the village’s main street.
Now in its third season, the market attracts more than 1,000 visitors each month, who delight in a Wairarapa showcase of
locally grown produce and artisanal creations. Visitors to the Greytown Country Market will be welcomed by the aroma of
freshly brewed coffee and the sizzle of sausages on the breakfast barbie. As you wander through the park visiting
stalls, expect to find exquisite jewellery pieces, wooden craftsmanship and antique silver, sitting alongside yummy
edibles such as locally produced honey and olive oil, homemade jams and lemon curd, as well as delicate clothing for
infants and eclectic fashion. The market is the perfect place to pick up a bouquet of freshly cut flowers or a new plant
for your garden.
Names you’ll be familiar with include Doggy Treats, Lavender Abbey, Peter Bennett wooden crafts, and Laughing Owl Fudge.
Local Wairarapa residents who have a bumper crop on their fruit trees or in their vege gardens are encouraged to join
the ‘Community Table’ and sell excess rather than let their gorgeous and flavour-rich produce go to waste.
The Greytown Country Market is a not-for-profit organisation which shares any profits at the end of the Summer season
(in March 2018) with two beneficiary charities: Early Years Community Child Care (Greytown) and the Wellington Free
Ambulance.
Put on your country casual threads, some comfy shoes and make a day of it, visiting the market, browsing the local shops
and treating yourself to a delicious lunch at one of the many restaurants lining Greytown’s main street or even a glass
of chilled wine or your favourite brew at the White Swan. Wellingtonians and out of towners could make a weekend of it,
staying at one of many B in Greytown and the surrounding wine region.
