Arrests made in relation to burglary in Hawkes Bay
Hawkes Bay Police have arrested two people in relation to a burglary in the Whakati Industrial Park over the weekend.
On Sunday two offenders broke into one of the premises and stole a large amount of property, including over 300kgs of scrap metal and 600 bottles of water and other beverages.
Police conducted enquiries and yesterday executed a search warrant, recovering a significant amount of the property and arresting those responsible.
Two men, aged 30 and 40 years old, have been charged with burglary and was due to appear in Hastings District Court today.
A woman, aged 20 years old, was also arrested and has been charged with receiving stolen property and will appear in the Hastings District Court on Monday 25 September 2017.
“Our local staff have done a great job to quickly identify and locate those responsible for this theft,” says Senior Sergeant Mike Stevenson, of the Eastern District Command Centre.
“We are pleased to have been able to return a lot of the property to the owners, and to make sure the offenders are held accountable for their actions.”
